Today we’ve started with Globalization and professional change subject. It has been interesting because we’d been able to discuss about the three main challenges in the world and how we can teach to children to get the best possible education for them.
Today we’ve started with Globalization and professional change subject. It has been interesting because we’d been able to discuss about the three main challenges in the world and how we can teach to children to get the best possible education for them.
As I’ve said, we’ve have to decided between the three biggest challenges in the world today. Of course, we were more than six people in the group and we haven’t chosen the same aspects, but we have had to put in common our choices and try to select three.
First of all I’d like to present my 3 biggest challenges in the world:
1. GLOBAL WARMING:

Nowadays the weather is changing so quickly and it’s becoming bad, even sometimes it’s able to damage people. We don’t know exactly the reason of this change, but I’m sure that in part is our fault.
One of the reasons of my last comment comes from some observations that I’ve done sometimes. For instance we use more artificial light that we need, so we’re spending more energy than we need and, of course, with this action we’re contributing to pollute the world.
Another reason is the artificial products we use instead of other non polluted products. For example we’d use hydrogen or electrical energy to move our cars instead of oil, but unfortunately for political reasons and especially because of our financial system; we prefer to waste oil and damage the ozone layer.
There are many reasons that evidence we have to worry about our world. That’s why, teachers, families, and in fact all people, have to take care and try to educate children in a good behavior that make a world improvement possible. We should show them how to recycle and the importance of doing it. We also may explain them the importance of eat all food and don’t throw them out. Moreover we could tell them that we don’t have to waste water or energy, it’s important that children know they have to reduce the uses of some energies.
2. POVERTY:
I think that it’s very difficult to change that skill. The poverty has always existed and I believe that it’ll continue existing. However we can take preventive measures to reduce it.
For instance children have to know that they don’t need hundreds of games to be happy, or teenagers don’t need seven wardrobes full of clothes. They would know that there are many people who are dying every day because they can’t eat anything while some of us is throwing his/her money.
Therefore students have to know the real world where they live and they also should be aware about the differences between the poor and the richest world.
3. WAR:
Maybe I wasn’t sure about this election. I put it because it’s a catastrophic thing that kills innocent people.
It’s impossible for a child to stop some war; he/she is not able to do that huge action. However we could teach them how to manage when they have a problem with their mates. We could show them that is possible to solve a trouble without violence.
In fact can be the first step to stop the violence in the world and get to live in a peaceful world where we can learn many things and also enjoy each moment to the full.
The 3 challenges I’ve just described are what I’ve chosen. However our group has decided to choose three different challenges. The main reflexion we have done is the next one:
When it comes to globalization we also have to take into account that climate change is therefore a massive trouble source. We agreed on the fact that due to the overpopulation more goods have to be available for the people. Therefore we discussed about the influence of production of goods for import and export on the increase of greenhouse effect in our group. Because of the technical and economical cross-linking, import and export as well as infrastructure are increasing steadily. On the other hand side natural space disappears as people need room for agriculture and industry. As a result, a lot of energy is needed and the pollution of the environment grows. Consequently, unrenewable energy sources become narrow and global warming is just one of the symptoms which develop on our planet. Although we have a lot of policies for environmental protection some countries don’t do anything to reduce CO2 emission or take a step toward renewable energy sources.
The three challenges we have finally selected are the next:
1. OVERPOPULATION:
In our group we decided that one of the biggest challenges in world is overpopulation. Especially in the third world and in some Asian countries lots of children were born and because of the improvements in medicine people will reach a high age today.
Consequently it seems to be reality that not everyone can be provided with enough food, water and education. They cannot even learn how to prevent pregnancy and sexual diseases without education in school.
Because in big cities population is rising up so quickly some areas are developing, which ones are rich of crime and violence. Also many diseases can be found there.
Much more room of living is needed so woods must be cut down or protected areas are disappear to deliver more space to live. If there more people living on the world there will be produced more rubbish also. Overpopulation doesn’t only seem to be a problem of humankind but also of flora and fauna.
That’s why we think that is necessary to teach children the reality of our world and the reasons that causes that problem. We think it’s important to talk about the differences in the sexual education depending on the place we live and the real recourses that we have to prevent that phenomenon.
Finally talk about the tolerance between different sorts of families could be a good idea to open our mind and accept that our world is changing and we need to adapt or, at least, respect the other ways of living.
Work as a professional
That’s why we think that is necessary to teach children the reality of our world and the reasons that causes that problem. We think it’s important to talk about the differences in the sexual education depending on the place we live and the real recourses that we have to prevent that phenomenon.
Finally talk about the tolerance between different sorts of families could be a good idea to open our mind and accept that our world is changing and we need to adapt or, at least, respect the other ways of living.

The last challenge we have described causes this one too. Overpopulation is one of the responsible about the huge difference between the first and the third world.
We think that if we were able to guarantee every child receives proper education maybe they would have an adequate behavior that allows them to be aware of that problem.
It’s important that they know that our society is changing but the serious problems, like poverty and richness still exist, so we need to help each other and, as a teachers, try to do it the same with the students.
They should know that they don’t need several material things to be happy, and they also have to be aware that in some parts of the world people dye because they don’t have anything to eat. Maybe it would be a good idea that students were able to see that huge differences in some pictures and after that make their own reflexions.
We aren’t able to change the world in one day but maybe we can educate children to get a better world where they live without the necessity of consumerism to be happy.

We needed time to choose that point as one of the most important challenge. But finally we decided to added because we considered that student have to know the importance of take care of our world and try to avoid the pollution and the unnecessary waste of energy and some products.
Finally our ideas are that we need to show students that alternative energy sources are necessary to get a better world where we can live without some diseases that are caused by the pollution phenomenon.
As a teacher we must show students to take care of or nature, minimize pollution, with recycling or replacing some resources for better ones. In conclusion we need to teach how to minimize pollution and the real causes of global warming.

MY REFLECTION OF GLOBALIZATION:
Globalization is becoming, every day, a more frequent word. Globalization means an economical, technologic, social and cultural process that’s growing up during this last years and tries to unify all countries in the world.
I’m not get used to use this concept because I’m focused in learning specific subjects in my own institution, however if I think I could find some situations where I need to act or to do things in a “global way”.
For instance when I did my school practices in Barcelona I worked with children from all over the world. Of course they speak my language and I was able to communicate with them, but the language wasn’t the only thing that allowed each other to get in contact. I also had to know or to be interested in their customs, traditions, habits, and even more aspects to get a good relation.
I think that this could be an example of how globalization is becoming a big phenomenon and how much it affect us all. People travels every year more and more and many families find new places to start a new life with their children because they want to give them the best possible education, so it means that teachers need to be prepared to receive people from different parts.
Related with English I have to use it many time to communicate with people that don’t speak in the same language than me. Maybe my English isn’t as good as I want, but it let me to have a conversation and understand with people. Of course I want to improve it, but the main aspect is that the English language can be use to talk with a lot of people.
When I was living in Barcelona I worked in a Hospital and every day I needed English to talk and to show how to do some things to someone. Now I’m living in Denmark and I also need English to communicate with my mates, although they’re Spanish too. The reason is that I want to have “global” conversation, and If I speak Spanish, the person near me uses German and the other one Portuguese, we aren’t able to understand. So here, in my new place, I also need it to be understood by people.
In conclusion that processes of globalization makes me think and reflect about the importance of having a common language just for communication and the consequences of becoming a global world mixing our cultures, societies, economies and traditions.
